Jagannath temple is the heart attraction of Puri, Odisha.This is an most important hindu temple which is dedicated to lord Jagannath, a form of Vishnu and only hindus can enter into this temple.This temple is famous for the ratha yatra (when three principal deities are pulled on huge and elaborately decorated temple cars) and many astonishing facts about this temple & till now which are unsolved.
This temple is constructed by the king Chodaganga but finally it is completed by Anangabhima Deva in 1174AD and it covers an area near about 37000m^2 and the height of the wall is 6.1m which is known as Meghanada Pacheri.The main portion of this temple is surrounded by a wall known as Kurma Bheda.


The main temple is comprised with 4 parts-
- Deula, Vimana or Garba griha where the triad deities are lodged on the ratnavedi (Throne of Pearls).
- Mukhashala (frontal porch)
- Nata mandir (which is also known as the Jagamohan- audience hall/dancing hall) and
- Bhoga Mandapa (offerings hall).

Puri recieves thousands of people who come to pay their offerings to lord Jagannath during the Ratha yatra and it is an annual parade in which the deities are carried outside the temple on 2 set of chariots and the idols are boarded in 3 boats to cross the river.

- Generally we know, any place on Earth, on daytime the breeze from sea comes to the land and the opposite happens in the evening.But in Puri, you can find the reverse gear of the breeze i.e in daytime the breeze blows from the land to the sea and the opposite happens in the evening.
- The riddle of Sudarshan Chakra i.e from every direction you can see this chakra and it looks back with the same appearance.
- Magical methods for cook the prasadam and this is the traditional way to cook by the prists here.Exactly 7 pots are used as vessels mounted over one another and are cooked using firewood and it is very interesting that- the top most pot is cooked first and then the rest follows the same order.It is also known as the largest kitchen in the world.

- According to Hindu mythology, wasting food is considered a bad sign but here the food is never futile. A total number of people visiting this temple varies between 2000 to 200000 people everyday. But the prasadam prepared everyday is never wasted, not even a bite!

- Monsoon time- between June & September is not the ideal time for visit the Puri for heavy rainfall.Temperature ranges between 27-31 degree celsius.
- Summer time- In summer, Puri are too difficult to tolerate, owing to the scorching heat the extreme humidity.Temperature ranges between 20-45 degree celsius.
